A note from our Chair

Welcome to our September newsletter edition, which includes:

· The latest from last night's Innovate Awards (Thursday 21 September)

· World Patient Safety Day 2023 highlights

· Details of this year’s Health Excellence Through Technology show (HETT).

I am delighted to share that from next month, we formally begin our third five-year license. We welcome the opportunity that the new license period brings for our teams to spend the next five years continuing to work alongside our NHS, industry, research and life sciences partners to identify, develop and spread innovation that will benefit our health service and its patients.

The current challenges in the NHS demonstrate there has never been a greater need for health innovation that supports the health and social care workforce to deliver better outcomes for the populations we serve. As summer draws to a close, and many of our system colleagues are faced with yet another challenging winter, we urge you all to reach out to your local Network team to find out more about how they can support you.

With the new licence coming into place, my time as Chair of the Network also draws to a close. I’m immensely proud of the collective impact the AHSNs have achieved over the past 10 years and thank the many brilliant people I have worked with for their tenacious drive and relentless determination to transform our health and care services through innovation. It will be my pleasure to continue working with so many of you in my main role as Chief Executive of what is soon to become Health Innovation Oxford and Thames Valley.

Professor Gary Ford, Chair of the AHSN Network and Chief Executive of Oxford AHSN
