Welcome to the latest edition of Network News.
Last month marked the start of our new five-year licence period granted by NHS England, this time as the Health Innovation Network. | | | |
Our new licence is the third commission the Network has received since its inception in 2013, which is both testament to our collective achievements over the last 10 years and signals a continued focus from our commissioners on both increasing the uptake of innovation in the NHS and using it to create economic growth through innovator support.
This is a critical and challenging time for the NHS and innovation has a role to play in helping us to deliver services effectively, safely and efficiently, freeing up more clinical time for patient care. World class innovation can be found in all corners of the NHS, but too often the best ideas have not been spread elsewhere. Over the past decade we have seen how this “adoption” challenge is best met when partners from across the innovation ecosystem come together and harness the full capabilities of new technology and the life sciences industry to deliver tangible and sustainable improvements for all patients.
Over the past decade we have demonstrated the impact that working in partnership with industry, academia and our NHS and social care colleagues can have on tackling some of the NHS' biggest challenges. Some of our most recent examples of this work are shared below, including the impacts of our National Lipid Optimisation & Familial Hypercholesterolaemia Programme to reduce the prevalence of cardiovascular disease and its associated health inequalities. Innovation is a collaborative endeavour, and we look forward to continuing working in partnership with you all.
